1. How do I pay for this and when am I covered?

Your monthly contributions are debited from your nominated bank account, on the date of the month which you selected, when completing your application. You will enjoy the cover, and access to the benefits, immediately upon receipt of your first contribution.

2. How many people can I add to my Family Cover?

Family Cover allows for two (2) Adults - meaning you, your Spouse and up to three (3) Children. Any additional Children may be added to your policy, as per the prescribed contributions. Children may be your biological Children, Adoptive or Children for whom you are the Legal guardian.

3. How do I access the cover and benefits?

For emergencies, you or your family member may initiate an alert call via the Emergivac Shariah Mobile App. Or you may call the Control room directly on 010 271 4786. For admin and customer service queries you may WhatsApp on 0833527860 or Call 010 745 7460 during office hours.

4. Do I need to report all accidents and events to EMERGIVAC?

Yes. Every event will need to be logged with the EMERGIVAC Control Centre. You will be provided with a Case Number immediately. Benefits and services cannot be activated without a case number.

5. Can a friend or family member contact the Control Room if I am involved in an accident or trauma event?

Yes, they will need to have your information on hand. Information can include one of the following: Member ID Number, EMERGIVAC Policy Number or Member mobile phone number.

6. How do I make changes to my policy?

7. What happens if I am involved in an accident outside of South Africa?

Cover and Benefits are limited to within the Borders of South Africa.

8. What if I already belong to a medical scheme?

There is nothing stopping you from joining EMERGIVAC Shariah in the event you are on another medical scheme. Your medical scheme will be the first point of contact to cover your costs. You will still need to obtain an EMERGIVAC Case number in the event you may need to claim any short-fall cover, up to your pre-selected cover limit.

9. What if I already have armed response services at my house?

This service is for added security for you and your family and is not limited to your home. You will have access to this service anywhere in the country, should you find yourself in a vulnerable position.

10. Will EMERGIVAC Members be taken to Private Medical facilities, for any medical emergency?

We will always endeavor to transport you to the closest private medical facility. This may also be determined by the circumstances whereby a member may require immediate medical care, in the shortest possible period. If a Public facility is the closest, the Member will be taken to this facility to be stabilized, before being transported to a private facility.

11. Will EMERGIVAC Members be taken to Private Medical facilities, for any medical emergency?

We will always endeavor to transport you to the closest private medical facility. This may also be determined by the circumstances whereby a member may require immediate medical care, in the shortest possible period. If a Public facility is the closest, the Member will be taken to this facility to be stabilized, before being transported to a private facility.

12. Who will pay the medical facility?

EMERGIVAC handles the payments directly to the relevant medical facility as per the relevant Cover Level and/or available funds. Any shortfall amounts will be for your account and will need to be paid directly by you to the medical facility or service provider.

13. Can I choose to be transported by Helicopter, instead of by road?

No. A Member will only be airlifted from the scene of the incident, after being assessed by the relevant medical personnel and only if they fall within pre-determined, evidence-based, best practice medical criteria.

14. What do you mean by repatriation of mortal remains?

Should a Member pass away in excess of 180 km of their primary place of residence, arrangements will be made to repatriate the mortal remains to the primary residence.

15. What do you mean by an accidental or trauma event?

This refers to an unexpected or unforeseen event, which results in physical injury. Examples of unforeseen events include a motor vehicle accident, injury during an armed robbery or a simple fall at home.

16. What happens if my treatment in the Casualty Room exceeds R5000 per single event?

The Member will be responsible for any amount in excess of R5,000.

17. Why can’t I use my full R10,000 Annual Casualty Room benefit with one visit?

Benefits are limited to R10,000 per Annum, with a maximum of R5,000 per incident. You can have 2 incidents at R5,000 each or 4 incidents at R2,500. However, the maximum for a single incident will always be R5,000.

18. What happens if I am in an area where there is no Private Medical facility available?

You will be evacuated to the nearest appropriate medical facility for immediate stabilization and treatment. If necessary and only if you are cleared by the attending doctor, will you be transferred to the closest private hospital to your location.

19. What happens if I am in a remote location where EMERGI-GUARD does not have a network or presence of armed response companies?

Where no private armed response company operates in such a location, the local police service will be notified. Your exact location and personal information will be shared with the police.

20. I am an Employer. What options do I have to cover my staff?

You can choose to fully fund the cover for your staff, you can co-fund the contribution or your staff can fully fund the contribution themselves via payroll deduction.

21. As an Employer, will my staff get the benefit of cheaper contribution?

Yes. If all employees are covered on a compulsory basis, a discount will be applied to the contribution. All employees will still be regarded as individual participants however they benefit from the discounted group contribution.

22. Who is The Activation Agency (Pty) Ltd?
